Happy 2025!
As we launch into the New Year, I am very excited for many opportunities on the horizon. Spring is around the corner, great meetings held by various organizations within our field, and many amazing educational opportunities in which to partake. In life, truly we never stop learning, and Developmental Optometry offers an abundance of learning to anyone who may be interested!
At Emergent, our first round of Mastering VT – Educational Online Workshops have gone far better than even we were expecting! In October, James discussed the many uses of a Brock String in his Brock String and Beyond course. In November, we all enjoyed our celebration of the great Dr. Bob Sanet, and in December, guest lecturer Erin Jubas, COVT shared several ideas on visualization, as she presented Mind’s Eye Mastery: Advanced Visualization Tools for Vision Therapists.
Our schedule for 2025 is coming together, and we are excited to share our January and February line up:

For the January course, James will be summarizing how patients who suffer a TBI might struggle with spatial awareness, central peripheral integration, light sensitivity, and re-emerging primitive reflexes. He will also briefly cover the emotional side of the patients, the slower pace of their progress, as well as how to make suggestions for managing their pain and reduced awareness. And as always, James will offer his masterful insight in how to approach activities with this population.
In February, our Mental Minus course will be a summarization of the levels of Mental Minus, an activity I learned from Dr. Harry Wachs, himself, over 20 years ago. We will discuss the “do’s” and the “don’ts” of how to make this a very powerful and successful activity in your office.

As a scheduling reminder, our Mastering VT Educational Online Workshops (created by Vision Therapists FOR Vision Therapists) will run monthly and can be viewed after the fact on video.
As a reminder, a portion of each event will be a presentation on a concept or vision therapy activity and then it will be opened up for questions and discussion.
